Additional stimulus money is on its way to a lot of people in the United States. However, that’s not because the federal government took any action to deliver a fourth coronavirus stimulus check, despite appeals from parliamentarians and the public for another direct payment.

Instead, states have filled the void left by the federal government. Many places, including the state of California, are providing stimulus funds to at least some residents. California started delivering its current batch of stimulus money on Dec. 10, 2021, with an approximate 803,000 persons to get a payout this round.

The funds will be produced via bank transfer into people’s bank accounts or is sent such as through mail, with last set of payouts from this batch to arrive by the starting of 2022. Here’s all you need to know to find out if you’ll be able to acquire one.

Why There Is More Stimulus Check?

The funds made by California are known as the Golden State Stimulus II payments. They are the government’s second set of stimulus cheques, with the initial payments restricted to lower-income households alone.

Payments under the Golden State Stimulus II are available to California citizens who:

  • In 2021, earned less than $75,000 in California Adjusted Gross Income (CA AGI).
  • They have to file their 2020 taxes by October 15, 2021.
  • Were citizens of California on the date the payment was made and for more than half of 2020.
  • Other taxpayers did not declare them as dependents.

The Golden State Stimulus II checks range in value from $600 to $1,200. The California Franchise Tax Board has made a tool available on its website for residents to use in determining how much money they should be eligible for.

This newest batch of checks is valued around $575 million in total, and contains 794,000 paper checks with a total value of $568 million, as well as 9,000 direct payments totaling $6.1 million in stimulus funds.

California has started distributing funds based on people’ zip codes. People with zip codes ending in 928-999 will get their payments between December 27, 2021 and January 11, 2022.
