THOUSANDS of cash-strapped Americans will get up to $300 in stimulus funds in the run-up to Christmas.

A prepaid Visa debit card will be distributed to around 20,000 homes in Santa Ana, California’s most destitute neighborhoods.

As part of the Revive Santa Ana Resident Stimulus Program, a total of $6 million in subsidies will be distributed to low-income communities.

It’s part of the $160 million Revive Santa Ana epidemic recovery effort, which aims to jumpstart the city’s economy in the aftermath of the Covid-19 disaster.

The American Rescue Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in March, funds this.

Officials verified the extra funding had been granted by municipal politicians in a statement dated November 16.

According to The Orange County Register, officials will begin delivering the cards door-to-door on December 4.

They may be used at any retailer that accepts Visa, although people are urged to shop locally.

“The COVID-19 epidemic has had a disproportionate impact on the citizens of Santa Ana, particularly those who live in high-poverty districts with overcrowded living circumstances,” stated Mayor Vicente Sarmiento.

The Resident Stimulus Program will assist households in recovering from the economic consequences of the epidemic while also reinvesting funds in our local economy.”

Payments are made using the last three digits of residents’ zip codes.

Checks will be mailed to California residents with zip codes ending in 585-719 from November 29 to December 17.

More than 500,000 Maine residents will get a $285 stimulus payment.

The state’s Department of Administrative and Financial Services started distributing such checks on November 15 and will continue to do so until the end of the year.

In addition, Republican lawmakers in Illinois have suggested a bonus stimulus payment to assist the state’s suffering population.

According to WCIA, if it becomes law, single taxpayers earning less than $75,000 would receive a $200 payment, while joint filers earning less than $150,000 would receive a $400 payout.

Republican State Representative Tom Demmer stated that the assistance will “match” some of the federal government’s financial assistance provided in recent years.
