Taylor Swift is Making Her Directorial Debut With a Script She Wrote Herself

Hold on to your scarves, Taylor Swift fans. The singer-songwriter is ready to make his feature film directing debut with Searchlight Pictures. The untitled film will be based on an original script written by Swift, while no more cast or production information is currently known.

Swift, one of the most popular performers of all time, has also directed a couple of her own music videos. Her first solo-directed music video was for The Man, from her 2019 album Lover.

All Too Well: The Short Film, which she directed last year and is based on the 10-minute version of her immensely popular song “All Too Well,” stars Sadie Sink from Stranger Things and Dylan O’Brien from Teen Wolf as a pair in a doomed love.

The film was nominated for an Oscar and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022. Her most recent video projects were for her upcoming album Midnights in 2022.

She is the only solo artist to have received two MTV Video Music Awards for outstanding direction. Swift also starred in supporting roles in Cats, Amsterdam, and Valentine’s Day.

More details about Swift’s upcoming film are unknown. For a glimpse into her directing technique, watch the behind-the-scenes clip of her directing All Too Well: The Short Film, which she recently published like a true mastermind.

Taylor Swift is Directing Her First Feature Film, Based on a Screenplay She Wrote

It took some time for Taylor Swift to take the director’s chair to her right. Taylor has already appeared in films such as The Giver and Cats, and she directed the short film “All Too Well” following the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) late last year. As a result, the news that she will direct her debut film is scarcely surprising.

Taylor has partnered up with Searchlight Pictures to make her film debut. It’s not unexpected that she’s already written the script. However, as of now, this is the only information we know on the project; no story details or casting information have been published.

“Taylor is a one-of-a-kind artist and storyteller.” “It is a genuine pleasure and privilege to work with her as she starts on this exciting and fresh creative path,” Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield said in a statement to Variety.

This is encouraging news, even if we’re still puzzled as to how Taylor had time to write a movie script while re-recording her old albums and releasing surprise albums. Her married pals Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, as well as “All Too Well” stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, are among the renowned actors she may cast in the film. (Or maybe Joe Alwyn, her business partner?)

We also know Taylor can tell a story that has nothing to do with her personal life, having previously featured folklore and story-songs about both fictional and real-world individuals, so whatever she has in store will most likely be meaningful.

Taylor is an excellent candidate for our project for reasons other than her writing ability. She received two VMA nominations for her directing work, which includes the short film “All Too Well” and the video “The Man.” We’ll be buying front-row seats when her film hits theatres.
