When some Americans check their bank accounts in a few days, they will be pleasantly surprised. Checks in the amounts of $600 and $1,200 are being sent to people who aren’t expecting them.

The Department of Agriculture will distribute these checks to a specific group.

A $700 million plan includes farmworkers and meatpackers, as well as some grocery store employees.

The strategy is to provide financial support to employees who were needed during the pandemic’s peak period.

The amount of money given to grocery store employees has yet to be determined.

The IRS is not in charge of this check. The government, local governments, and non-profit organizations are in charge.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is collecting the funds for distribution.

“We acknowledge that our farmworkers, meatpackers, and grocery workers overcame unprecedented challenges and put their lives on the line to ensure that Americans could feed and sustain their families throughout the pandemic,” Vilsack said.
