On Friday, A Texas Dad got killed in a parking lot at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant.
He was celebrating his daughter’s sixth birthday and was shot while he was carrying his daughter’s birthday cake.
Known as Calogero Duenes, 24, father of two daughters, aged 6 and 3, arrived at the Humble restaurant with his family including his wife.
The victim’s family was inside the restaurant when the shooting took place.
Surveillance video showed the shooter driving in the wrong way as he came closer to hurt Calogero. There was an exchange of words, followed by gunfire.
The shooter ran away from the scene of the crime.
He drove away in a black Ford car.
Duenes was immediately taken to the hospital where he, unfortunately, died.
“I saw him,” his wife Amber Uresti stated “I saw him walking towards us. I told the lady my husband was on his way. I pointed at him, and the instant I turned around, he came running in through the door and he kept saying, ‘I got shot! I got shot!'”
She added “I really can’t wrap my head around it. Like, I’m hurt. I can’t understand how someone can do that to someone that’s holding a cake. We just went to go celebrate my daughter’s sixth birthday. I mean, that’s all he was tasked with. That’s all he had on him was a cake.”
“My daughter has been crying,” Uresti added in her statement. “She slept last night with her father’s shirt, crying until she fell asleep, and it breaks my heart. There’s nothing I can tell her. There are no words to tell her other than, ‘Daddy is with you in your heart. He loves you.'”
No arrests have been reported so far, nor any suspects have been identified by the police.
