Nicolas Cage Opens Up About Which Franchise He’d Rather Join Than Star Wars

Nicolas Cage wouldn’t go to the Star Wars galaxy far, far away, but he might join Starfleet and serve on the Star Trek Enterprise. Cage is promoting his new Western movie The Old Way right now, and in the next movie Renfield, he will play Dracula.

In an interview, Cage was asked if he would like to join the growing Star Wars world. Cage isn’t interested, which is a surprise, and he’s honest about it. He told Kevin Polowy, “No,” “I don’t really feel sad. I’m a Trek fan, and I’m on the Enterprise. This is how I do things.”

He went on to say that he isn’t just a fan of old-school Star Trek, but that he also likes the new Chris Pine films. “I watched Shatner when I was young, and I thought Pine was great in movies,” he says. “The movies are great, in my opinion.”

Cage then talked about why he likes Star Trek. “I like political and social issues. To me, what science fiction is really about and why it’s such an important genre is that you can say whatever you want, however you feel, on a different planet, in a different time, or in the future, and no one will stop you.

You can really say what you want to say in science fiction, like Orwell did, and Star Trek took advantage of that. I thought they were up to something important.” By the end of the interview, there was no doubt about what Cage said. He says, “I’m not a Star Wars fan. I’m a Star Trek fan.”

Nicolas Cage Reveals Franchise He Would Rather Join Over Star Wars

Paramount Pictures still has time to put Cage in the upcoming Star Trek 4 movie. The studio has been working on the project for years, but it hasn’t gone into production yet because of issues with the cast, the scripts, and the directors.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who later wrote The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, wrote the original screenplay for the movie. In the story, Captain Kirk would have met up with his father, George Kirk, who was played by Chris Hemsworth.

McKay told Esquire, “I’d love to tell you about it.” “Two Star Trek movies were made with our help. You’re thinking of the fourth movie in the series, which would have brought Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine back together.

The idea was that they were the same age because of a strange thing that happened in the Star Trek universe. It was going to be a great space adventure between a father and son, kind of like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in space. We were very happy about it.”
