On Thursday’s episode of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 41-year-old actress, who is about to go on a Steel Magnolia tour, said that the show has not yet been picked up for a 14th season.

Shelagh Turner said, “Series 13 has been ordered, so it’s going to happen.” “After the Steel Magnolias tour, I’ll be filming that. “I’m not sure about anything else.”

When host Kate Garraway asked her if she wasn’t sure about the future of the show because “maybe time is running out,” she said: “I don’t think that’s at all true.

“I think we’ve gotten some big contracts.” At one point, we got three orders, which is very uncommon “she went on. “I have to say, though, that we usually start a series and then find out what happens. We almost always find out quickly. I don’t know for sure, but there might be news soon.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed, because people still seem very interested and excited about the show.” Later, she said that series 13 will take place in 1969, which suggests that any more seasons will take place in the 1970s.

In August of last year, Heidi Thomas, who is married to Dr. Turner actor Stephen McGann, said that the show could go on into the 1970s.

She told RadioTimes.com, “In theory, it could go into the 1970s.” She then said that the order of nuns on which the Nonnatus House nuns are based stayed in East London until 1976.

“There are so many medical, social, and emotional stories to tell, and I think we could keep going,” she said. “I would say that right now, we are only contracted to make series 12 (which we are halfway through filming) and series 13 (which will be made next year).

“After that, we don’t know what plans the BBC has, so I think we’d have to wait for them to tell us.”
