Jokes by Tom Hanks He Slept With Rita Wilson for the Lead Role in ‘a Man Called Otto’
Tom Hanks did a lot to get a part in the movie A Man Called Otto. “I slept with the producer for 365 nights to get the part,” the 66-year-old actor joked during a screening and Q&A for A Man Called Otto at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Monday.
Rita Wilson, who has been his wife for 34 years, is that producer by chance. Tom plays a cranky old man whose wife died months ago. He is thinking about killing himself until his new neighbor, Mariana Treviso, makes him feel like he is part of her family.
A Man Called Otto is based on A Man Called Ove, a book by Fredrik Backman that came out in 2012. It was directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Christopher Robin).
Tom and Wilson Hanks’ son, Truman Hanks, plays a younger version of his grumpy father’s character. Tom said, “I talked to him about body language and how to walk when you’re angry.”
“The good news is that when I was 26 years old, I looked like him. The bad news is that in 40 years, he’ll look just like me.” He also made a joke. “He’ll have to get over it.”
It was fun to work with Treviso, who is 45 years old. After Tom saw her audition on Wilson’s iPad, he was sure she should play the part. And the actor who played Forrest Gump is very happy with how it turned out.
“If you want a better life, have a nosy Mexican woman knock on your door and ask, “Que Paso?” Tom remarked. Wilson, who is 66 years old, wrote and sang an original song for the movie called “Till You’re Home.” Sebastián Yatra sings with her on the song.
She wrote the song with two-time Grammy winner David Hodges. The late Mike Nichols, who was a friend of Wilson’s late father, said, “The dialogue continues,” which gave the song its title.
“And the idea that you can still talk to someone even if they are no longer in your life. I talk to my parents and other people who have died. And the talk keeps going, “She told me it was Monday. “David and I talked about how you can’t wait for someone to get home so you can tell them about your day when they are out for the day.”
“But home could also have been a spiritual place. I also wanted it to be sung from two different points of view. It could be sung by either a man or a woman “Wilson said. The movie A Man Called Otto will come out in theatres on Christmas Day.
