If you have a busy schedule and a smartphone, you know how hard it is to clear your mind and be in the moment. Jelly Roll is no different. But the rising country star is coming up with a plan to deal with distractions and stress.

In 2023, he’s going to give up his phone so he can pay more attention to what’s going on around him. “I’m not taking a phone into 2023,” he tweeted. “I’ll say hello every now and then from the studio computer, but I won’t have a phone in 2023.

I want to be present and calm everywhere I go next year.” It looks like this is not the first time the singer has made low-tech music. “It was crazy that I didn’t have a phone for a whole year,” he said.

Jelly isn’t the only famous person who gave up his phone to help his mental health. Brett Eldredge talked about his decision to get a flip phone for a while. During that time, he wrote new music and thought about his artistic growth and identity.

In 2019, Brett said, “I think everyone should do it.”

“I know it’s a big commitment, but I was always on my phone,” he said. “But I think I got to a point where I wanted to connect so deeply that I realized, ‘This is going to take a lot of self-awareness to do.'” And I’ve done just that, and I’ve never felt better.”
