A multi-vehicle collision involving at least two semi trucks shut down both southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Roy on Tuesday.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden, the incident occurred soon after 11 a.m., with trucks obstructing the southbound I-15 lanes in Roy. The accident, he claimed, caused no injuries, but it did necessitate a hazardous materials cleanup.
Although it was pouring at the time, it was unclear what caused the incident. The accident is still being investigated.
To allow motorists to skip the cleaning, the highway was stopped at the 5600 South exit in Roy, causing traffic delays of nearly 15 minutes. All lanes reopened soon before 1:30 p.m., according to the Utah Department of Transportation, however there may be some lingering delays for the rest of Tuesday afternoon.
At 5600 South, lanes were restricted for many hours until being restored about 2 p.m.
Crews investigated if the collision was a HAZMAT incident. There were no serious injuries recorded.
