Bronx Man, 22, Shot Dead in Soundview: Gunman Caught on Video Rifling Victims Pocket Before Fleeing


A 22-year-old Bronx man was shot and killed on Thursday, and police are hunting for three men who fled the scene on mopeds.

According to police, the victim, Yefri Jimenez, was shot just before 10 p.m. on Westchester Ave. near Elder Ave. in Soundview.

Police surveillance film shows an unidentified gunman sneaking up behind Jimenez and firing a shot into his back as he tried to flee.


Jimenez collapsed on the ground, and the gunman rifled through his pockets. One of the moped riders approached Jimenez and his adversary on the sidewalk.

The gunman climbed onto the back of the bike, and the unnamed driver drove away west on Westchester Avenue. According to authorities, a second moped waiting nearby followed suit off camera.

The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

According to a police source, Jimenez was on his way to a friend’s house to pick up lunch when he was shot outside the building.

On Friday, police published CCTV images and footage of the individuals in the hopes that someone would recognize them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Local Police at (800) 577-TIPS. All conversations will be considered secret.
