The Seattle Seahawks 2021 season has not gone as planned, and they took their frustrations out on the visiting Detroit Lions on Sunday. While the final score of 51-29 was undoubtedly cause for celebration for Seattle supporters, the loss of All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner on the game’s first play had many wondering about his future.

After the game, head coach Pete Carroll briefed the reporters, saying Wagner had a sprained knee and that further information will be available Monday. Now that it’s Monday, we have a more comprehensive update.

Wagner will miss the season finale against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18 due to injuries to both his PCL and MCL. Given the history of Seahawks defenders in State Farm Stadium, some supporters will believe that his absence is in his best interests. What this means for the Seattle defense’s ability to execute against a playoff-caliber attack with rookies Jordyn Brooks and Codyn Barton likely manning the position will be interesting to see.

Bobby will be able to rest and recover in the meanwhile, and ideally prepare for a 2022 season with the Seahawks.

According to CNBC,  American football linebacker Bobby Wagner is now an equity investor in social investing site Public.com. The Seattle Seahawks star will also serve as an advisor to the firm’s collegiate athlete programme.

Public, which was founded in 2019, is an investing platform that allows users to acquire stock and encourages financial literacy and stock market understanding. Venture capital firms Accel and Greycroft, as well as entertainer Will Smith’s Dreamers, were among the investors in the $310 million round. Pitchbook estimates that Public is worth $1.2 billion privately.

Wagner made the announcement at his weekly press conference on Wednesday. Wagner’s admirers who open an account with Public will also receive free stock. The terms of Wagner’s investment were not disclosed.

Wagner detailed why he invested in the platform in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday. He appreciates “what they’re doing,” he remarked, adding that “financial literacy is something that is very important to me.”

“I want people to understand how money works and how people invest,” Wagner remarked. He then dubbed Public a “community – where you can conduct dialogues with people to learn why they are investing in various things.”

Leif Abraham, Public’s co-CEO, told CNBC that the company has over 1 million members and that it intends to “grow education around the stock market.”

Wagner’s portfolio continues to grow with this deal. In 2020, he joined Fuse Venture Partners’ technology fund. The firm intends to invest in Seattle-based early-stage companies. Wagner joined as a venture partner alongside other investors such as John Connors, a former Microsoft executive, and Satbir Khanuja, a former Amazon executive.

Wagner, 31, is in his tenth season with the Seahawks, who won their first game against the Indianapolis Colts to kick off the 2021 NFL season. Wagner will earn $13.1 million this season as part of a three-year, $54 million contract deal he signed in 2019.

Wagner will also serve as an advisor to Pubic’s One Team, a programme for collegiate athletes who can now earn from their name, image, and likeness as a result of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling this summer.

Wagner said he wants to see more athletes “break out of the attitude of giving it to someone else and having them do the investment” when discussing their financial decisions. Instead of being told what to do, obtain some knowledge so you can have a conversation.”

Bobby Wagner Opted for His Hometown Over the Ravens.

Wagner’s explanation for his decision appears to be rather straightforward, at least according to him. He opted for his hometown over the Ravens. It wasn’t about the money, and it wasn’t about the team — it was all about being close to his family.

What we do know is that the Ravens offered Wagner more money up front, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who reports that Baltimore was willing to pay $18 million over the first two years, compared to $17.5 million with the Rams.

The Rams reportedly offered more in terms of incentives, as well as the opportunity to stay on the West Coast and play closer to home. It was impossible for him to say no to all of it.

Instead, the Ravens will look for other linebacker upgrades, possibly in the 2022 NFL Draft, while also scouting the free-agent market for prospective signings.

In this regard, Les Snead, Rams’ GM, acknowledged that the defensive staff has already analyzed several videos on how the player moves on the field and it is only necessary to define if he fits in their scheme.

Although, the management retained Travin Howard and also has Ernest Jones among its ranks, it seems to be unconvinced that the pair of players is up to the challenges they will face throughout the season.

As a Seattle player, Bobby Wagner was invited to the Pro Bowl eight times and was also part of the NFL’s All-Pro first team for six editions.’

Despite the fact that Travin Howard and Ernest Jones were retained by the management, it appears that the two players are not up to the obstacles they will encounter throughout the season.

Bobby Wagner was a member of the NFL’s first team for six editions and was invited to the Pro Bowl eight times as a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

Russell Wilson’s departure from the Seahawks wasn’t the only significant development for the team on Tuesday. The team is also saying goodbye to a defensive leader who has been with the team for a long time.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks intend to release linebacker Bobby Wagner ahead of free agency. The trade was made public by the Seahawks on Wednesday afternoon.

Wagner, 31, was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seahawks and has since established himself as one of the league’s finest linebackers. During his stint in Seattle, he never recorded fewer than 104 tackles in a season and was named to six All-Pro first teams.

Wagner had a career-high 170 tackles in 2021. He was named to the All-Pro second team and was selected to his eighth straight Pro Bowl appearance.

Despite his excellent performance, the Seahawks are releasing him. Why? It all comes down to how well he fits in Seattle in the future.
