Blake Shelton won his ninth season of The Voice on Tuesday by teaming up with country singer Bryce Leatherwood. The win was bittersweet, though, because it was Blake’s last time coaching with his wife Gwen Stefani.

Blake teased ET’s Cassie DiLaura backstage after the emotional finale, “I know what you’re trying to do, this is a Barbara Walters moment.” “I’m not going to cry because of you!”

Blake said that he was “so into the finale tonight” and his performances with the other three finalists and his famous friend Kane Brown that he didn’t realise how serious the situation was until the show was over.

“After the cameras turned off, I walked over to Gwen’s chair, and she was literally crying,” he said. “She told me, ‘This is the last time we’ll do this with you.'” Blake also said that he doesn’t think Gwen’s time as a coach will end in season 22.

“I would hope not for the sake of the show,” he said. When he met his wife on the reality show, he said, “But this is the last time we’ll do this together.” “I was so focused on this that I didn’t even think about it, and now you’re making me cry!” So, could the country singer ever come back to The Voice, maybe as a celebrity coach on his wife’s team?

Blake said, “Oh, I’d be proud to be Gwen’s teacher.” “I’ll do anything she tells me.” The couple will spend a lot of time with their family over the holidays. Blake teased, “Christmas is coming up. I don’t know if you knew that or not.”

“It’ll just be a tour,” he said, referring to how he and his blended family would get through the events. “Christmas with the family is a trip in and of itself… It’s going to be crazy, but it’s also our favourite time of year, so we’re looking forward to it.”
