Bernard King played basketball for 14 years. He played for the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Washington Bullets. He played his collegiate basketball at the University of Tennessee. And then King was selected seventh overall by the New York Nets in the 1977 NBA Draft. King scored over 19,000 points, won an MVP award, was selected to four All-NBA teams,and was voted to four All-Star games.

As a rooking, he averaged 24.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. he was traded to the Utah Jazz due to his off the court problems. In 1979-80, he appeared in the 19 games for the Jazz. he was then traded to Golden State and there he won the NBA Player of the Year Award in 1980-81.

He then joined New York Knicks in exchange for the troubled Micheal Ray Richardson and a future draft choice. he was given the nickname “The Texas Massacre” for his back to back 50-point games against San Antonio and then Dallas.

1984-85, he scored a career high 60 points against the Nets and led the league with the score; 32.9 points per game, However he missed the 1985-86 season, Patrick Ewing’s rookie year due to tore his ACL.

He returned and appeared only six ball games, the Knicks decided to release him but king did not give up on his career and returned to the league in 1987-88 as a member of the Washington Bullets where he averaged 17.2 points per game in his first season with the team. In other two seasons he averaged at least 20 points per game.

In 1991-92, he missed the entire season again due to injury. He made a comeback in 1992-93, by joining the Nets. He played in 32 games and then announced his retirement.
