Kirstie Alley’s cancer battle is being revealed in the aftermath of her death at the age of 71. Her rep recently informed People that the Cheers actor had been diagnosed with colon cancer.

True, 30, and Lillie, 28, Alley’s daughters, posted a message on their mother’s official social media sites on Monday, revealing that the actress died after a brief fight with cancer.

Alley was surrounded by her closest family members as she battled the sickness, which was only recently identified, according to the statement.

“To all our friends all throughout the world,” the statement started. “We are deeply saddened to inform you that our great brave and loving mother has died after a brief struggle with cancer.”

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought valiantly, leaving us with the confidence of her never-ending joy of life and whatever adventures lay ahead.” “She was an even better mother and grandmother than she was on-screen,” the statement said.

Parker Stevenson, Alley’s ex-husband, also shared a photo and a sweet note for the late actress. They were married from 1983 to 1997 and had two children, Lillie and True.
