For over a month, LeGarrette Blount has been a hot topic when it comes to New York Giants football.
But after the New England Patriots decided to tender him, which would then force a team like the Giants to surrender a draft pick if they were to sign him, things have gotten a bit complicated.
But it looks as though that script has completely flipped.
According to James Kratch of NJ.com, now that the Pats have placed the tender on Blount, it basically “dashes” the chances of the Giants signing Blount.
Kratch also questioned just how interested the Giants were in Blount to begin with, prior to being tendered.
He also adds that the idea of the team wanting to add a veteran running back – Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, Blount – was “overblown” and not as obvious as some may have thought it was.
He says this because head coach Ben McAdoo has already stated that he wants to give his young guys a shot, and by signing a veteran back, that would go against that thought process.
At the moment, the Giants will roll with Perkins, Shane Vereen, Wayne Gallman, and Orleans Darkwa.
Unless they get hit by the injury bug, that looks like the lineup you’ll see from them heading into the season.
